If we assume that excessive tension generates imbalance, at what point does equilibrium emerge again?
El Origen del Equilibrio ("The Origin of Equilibrium") is the title of this work, composed for seven instruments and electronics. In this piece, the electronic and instrumental worlds are not opposed as two independent entities; instead, they merge into one another, forming a symbiotic relationship. In a sense, this relationship establishes a kind of third nature of sound.
It is worth noting that this work was born in a context entirely atypical and, until then, unknown: the confinement and social distancing brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. While the music does not seek to directly represent this situation, it is undeniably shaped by it in various ways. On one hand, this is evident in its technical conception, as the piece was designed to be studied and recorded individually, from each performer's home, by members of the Tropi ensemble. But this influence is also present in its poetic quality: the work proposes a beginning that is directional, emphatic, and decisive — an opening in which a kind of intuitive, emotional response to this particular moment of history may be at play.
